Cooking each meal can cause a lot more wastes than you’ve ever imagined.

For example, Theses are wastes from making a dish of meatball spaghetti.

  • Meat scraps : These small pieces of meat scraps, fat ,skin and tendons can start to rot and smell within 12-24 hours or just overnight in room temperature.
  • Garlic skin and unwanted bulbs : Although the skin itself doesn’t smell a lot, it is actually a good food for fungus. Moreover, pests love the smell of rotten garlic skin.
  • Basil : Basil is considered a kind of vegetable waste. It decomposes quickly, within 1-3 days. It is also a very good food for fungus.
  • Carrot skin :  It is a kind of waste that contains a lot of water. As a result, it starts to decompose easily, usually within 2-5 days. It is a very good food for fungus and a very suitable place for flies to lay eggs.
  • Tomato skin : The skin can be kept for 3-5 days before it starts to smell. It is one of the most favorite foods for rats and flies. The skin itself is a good food for fungus.

In conclusion, a dish of food which weights 300 grams can cause more than 150 grams of wastes. It is 50% of the food weight.
